A JOB TO DO

A JOB TO DO

On the eve of the 75th anniversary of the United States’ entry into World War II, American veterans talk of their experiences at Pearl Harbor and how they hope the next generations will not forget the history of this war. “I was just a young kid,” reminisces one veteran. Another one remarks, in the understatement so typical of the era: “All of a sudden you had a job to do. So everybody grew up.” Events at Pearl Harbor set in motion a war against the Axis Powers that would cost the United States more than 400,000 soldiers killed and more than 670,000 wounded. Countless others returned to their homes with mental scars that would never heal. The Greatest Generations Foundation is a non-profit organization devoted to helping combat veterans return to their battlefields and enabling closure of their war experiences.
